Gymnasts have revealed their skills at the Kinross Secondary Schools competition in the Bell’s Sports Centre in Perth. As many cheering fans and family flocked to the hotels in Perthshire, the events showcased the talents of many junior gymnasts who are hoping to make it big in the competitive sports.
The event was organised by the sports development team within the Perth and Kinross Council, and saw over 50 pupils competing both solo and within teams. Other individuals who helped organise the event were the council’s Active Schools team, various PE staff, judges and coaches. Within the Level 1 category, it was Perth Academy who was victorious with the teams taking both first and second place. Perth Grammar School took the third place prize. Within the Level 2 league, even though Perth Academy won last year, they were succeeded by Perth High School B, with the older Perth High A taking the bronze prize. The full details of this past competition were as follows:
Level 1 – 1st: Perth Academy C, 2nd: Perth Academy A, 3rd: Perth Grammar, 4th: Crieff High B, 5th: Crieff High A, 6th: Perth Academy B.
Level 2 – 1st: Perth High B, 2nd: Perth Academy, 3rd: Perth High A, 4th: Perth Grammar, 5th: Kinross High, 6th: Kinross High
However, the two top teams have now qualified to appear at the Scottish National Schools’ Championships, representing both Kinross and Perth. The championships will be held in March at the Bell’s Sports Centre.
